Saratoga Cross Country Classic

More About the 8th Annual SXCC!

The Saratoga Cross Country Classic 5k and 8k are open to all athletes. The 8k is also designated as a USATF Adirondack Grand Prix race and Association Championship.  It is a USATF Sanctioned event.
Never run cross country before? That's OK...the XC Classic is NOT a technical trail run. The 5k and 8k are the same legendary courses used by local high school and college cross country events. The 5k has also been used as the USATF National 5k XC Championship multiple times, most recently in 2015.
Starting in the open grass field just north of the Hall of Springs, the course winds through the beautiful Spa State Park (19 Roosevelt Drive, 12866). The surface is a combination of grass, asphalt, macadam, gravel and dirt. The vast majority of the footing is quite even. Even the most novice runners find this course to be very unique and enjoyable event!

Video and Course Tours

For 2019, we will be back to the original course (no Peerless Pool detour). Updated video has been posted.

Course Changes for 2020

8k - new in 2019. Basically, the same as the 5k except you do the Geyser/Pool/Ferndell loop twice. See course maps for a complete description. NOTE: Slight change to accommodate the running of the 5k/8k together; the 8k will now run the woods loop on the second pass instead of the first pass. See detailed description in the 8k course map download, or view the video here.

5k - Due to the construction work on the Peerless Pool, the course was altered for 2017. Beginning in 2018, we are back to the original course. Updated course map below. The above video also shows the 5k up to the finishing ~500m across the grass field.

2k -  No changes for 2020. In 2017, the old 2k was more like 2.4k, so it was shortened. It no longer goes up Ferndell Hill like the 3k/5k.  See maps for change details (old course labeled 1.47, new course 1.21).
